It's already a month since he was born. How time flies! And with him around, it just zaps. We celebrated his "One month birthday" as Swathi calls it by eating out at Mainland China. We had not ventured out with him much in the last one month. Only twice actually. Once to the Boat Club with Swathi's parents. And the other time for some shopping where we took turns while somebody stayed with him in the car! So when three of us climbed into the car at 9 o'clock in the night to dine outside, while at one hand we were excited to be out - just three of us - on the other hand we were also a bit apprehensive. Swathi a lot more than I was. She wouldn't take her eyes off him! But much to our surprise and relief he slept through most part of our outing. I don't know if it was the light soothing music that was playing there or if he just wanted three of us to have a good time.
I had started writing this one quite some time back. It's been one and half months now and we take him out often. Leave aside getting cranky, he slept during almost all the times we took him out. Swathi says he probably likes the rocking movement in the car and the noise around. That seems to be the case. We watched so many movies when he was "inside" that he finds himself at peace even in the loudest of loud noises around. So much so that he gets hysterical when the TV is on but breaks into a bellow as soon as we switch it off. Rocking is another thing that's dear to him. There was a time when making him sleep in the night was as difficult as nailing jelly to the wall! This was before we realized that rocking him works like a magic. And the key is to rock him vigorously as his cry grows into a crescendo. How he can sleep when he is being swayed to and fro fails me altogether! Walk, rock and talk is the mantra to his sound sleep. At times I must have walked almost 4km in my room rocking and singing him lullaby!
He's growing up fast. When I saw him after being away for a week, he looked bigger and grown up. But the dude is so active that he's gaining more in length than in weight. He measures 22" now. We have never seen him lying steady in the bed when he's awake. His legs are perpetually cycling and hands always boxing in the air! I seriously feel that he might make it big in sports :). His horoscope says that he will get into medicine though. Either ways he would be the first one to take that up as a profession in my dad's side family.
Lately he has started fixing his sight and smiling socially. Till now he used to just look though any of us. Now when he looks at us and returns our smile... the feeling is inexplicable. He has also started acknowledging our talking to him by making excited sounds and moving his hands and legs animatedly. With his big round eyes, wild movements and coos he appears to be attempting to communicate with us.. to talk with us. It's amazing to watch him grow. Actually it's amazing to just watch him :)
